I was born the son of a share cropper...(Not Really, but I always wanted to say that.) I really was born in the happy home of two teachers in Corsicana, Texas in 1977. We moved north when I was still an infant and settled in the Northeast Texas area. Growing up I spent time in all types of denominations, which gave me a unique flavor. As I continued on the tumultous spiritual journey of a teenager, tragedy struck. My best friend, my grandmother, literally passed away in his arms. And I simply could not understand it. So I turned away from God, religion, and any type of calling on my life. I became hostile and angry at anything and everything having to do with a "Christian" God. So I entered college completely rejecting the entire concept of Christ. And I began to explore all the secular things this world has to offer. I tried to replace God with objects, substances, and philosophies. But that didn't work. So I became an agnostic and began to study philosophy and literature, looking for an answer. As I studied Eastern Mysticism, Paganism, Buddhism, and Nihilism, I finally just gave up and turned to the Bible. I began reading on page one and did not stop reading until I came to Luke 23 when I fell to my knees at 3 am and turned my life over to Christ. But I kept reading and eventually surrendered everything to the call of Jesus, to tell others about Him.
Today, I am the senior pastor of Allens Point Baptist Church and hold a Bachelors Degree in Religion and Philosophy from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I host two radio shows a week, write a monthly syndicated colemn for local newspapers, and create Christian Post-Modern art. My goal is to use creativity, Biblical exposition, and timely application to connect you to the spiritual ah-ha moments that Christ gives us.
My personal scripture verse tells you a lot about who I am:
I Corinthians 2:2, "For I decided to know nothing among you but Jesus Christ and Him crucified."
